One Purpose, One Witness
Scripture
Acts 2:42-47
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

One Purpose, One Witness
Unity reaches its fullest expression when God’s people are aligned around His purpose. In Acts 2, the early church devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, prayer, and worship. Their unity was visible, compelling, and powerful. As a result, God added to their number daily.
This unity was not accidental. It flowed from shared devotion and shared mission. When believers are centered on God’s Word and committed to one another, unity becomes a natural outcome. Their lives together became a living testimony to the transforming power of the gospel.
A similar picture emerges in Nehemiah 8, where God’s people gathered as one to hear the Law. Unity around God’s Word led to conviction, repentance, joy, and renewed strength. When the people understood God’s truth together, it reshaped their community.
Disunity often arises when purpose is lost. When preferences or distractions take center stage, focus shifts inward. But when God’s mission remains central, unity is strengthened and witness is amplified.
Today, reflect on the shared purpose God has given His people—to know Him, to grow together, and to make Him known. Ask yourself how unity within the church points others to Christ.
Pray for renewed commitment to God’s mission. When believers walk together with one purpose, the world takes notice—and God is glorified.
